I feel the most productive after I’ve fully rested. It might take a good night’s sleep, sometimes a full day, or several days if I’ve really been pushing myself for an extended period of time. Months of overwork takes months of “less productivity” aka more rest to recuperate. But since I’ve been through burnout multiple times and came out the other side better, I’ve come to realize the importance of rest. Resting is productive. I feel like so many people need to hear that. The world we live in is in overdrive these days. And sometimes I wonder, what are we actually doing anyway?
I was just thinking the other day, because somebody mentioned being bored to me, that boredom is not in my vocabulary. I’m always trying to engage in a project or business idea or reading or on YouTube; there’s an endless array of things to do. So you could say I’m obsessed with being productive. And at this point in my life, that includes resting. There’s nothing like laying around for a full day, not stressing about anything if I can help it, and returning to tasks refreshed the day after. To be honest, I had to rearrange my life a lot and even sacrifice some things, if only temporarily, to create space and time to rest. But the benefits are manifold. I hope everyone can get their rest too.
