a poem dedicated to post-breakup grief
The man I love is in Georgia
Southern boy *says with proud accent on south*
He’s tall and strong and slender
Like a light pole
Beaconing hope from afar.
His eyes are a safe place,
His hands wide and long
His chest is the best pillow
Though it lay wide and flat
It serves comfort and warmth,
Heart beating slow.
I’ve seen him when he’s restful
And thought how that body moves.
He’s amazing, he’s a miracle
I thought it easy to choose
To love him over and over
Through every thick and thin
My favorite of all,
amongst my past of men.
His heart reflects beauty
And there’s soul in his words
His mustache is young
But grows in full.
His lips are of a king
Who reigned ancient
Long black lashes
Frame the windows light fills.
The man I love is in Georgia
Every day my heart breaks anew
Suffering the closeness
we had being through.
Your safety is my prayer,
Your light is my muse,
And for all time I know-
I will truly love you.
-a long lost love letter
by zen desire
these are both beautiful arrangements of this classic song, perfect for considering this poem – enjoy
