A fated summer of love led to this timeless body of work. Produced alone in my bedroom, it was an act of liberation- setting myself free from any expectations or limitations.
As an indie artist trying to make my way in the world, I’ve done my best to learn all about industry standards like professional engineering, mixing and mastering and so on… yet few times I’ve found myself with an engineer. Or the funds to hire one. I’ve never let this stop me from recording as much as I feel compelled to.
And what I’ve discovered is… I love my music just the way it is. I always have and I always will. I love the hum of the fridge in the background or the dripping faucet. I’m particularly fond of the birds outside my window and the airplanes that fly over bedroom. But what’s most endearing, is the performance I give in the moment. That’s the magic of timeless music- the emotion, the energy that’s captured for all time. When it’s real, you know.
I’ve grown to prefer not to dilute this energy by over polishing my music. That doesn’t mean I don’t aim for perfection, but it does mean I aim for honesty and authenticity. Space (unedited) is a moment in time I’ll never get back. And it’s beautifully preserved, like sounds heard for generations, how long our love abounds (Ten Toes, Love Abounds). I hope you spend time with this project and grow to appreciate it as much as I do.
